What’s New in Pain Reprocessing Therapy: A Clinical Research Round-Up

A number of clinical trials on Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and related mind-body approaches for chronic pain recently wrapped. This 1-hour lecture provides a timely research round-up on the latest findings from several relevant studies, including five-year follow-up data from the Boulder Back Pain Study, new results from a randomized trial of group-format PRT, and newly published research examining how PRT influences multisensory sensitivity in people with chronic pain. The session will also briefly synthesize emerging evidence from studies on Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET) and related interventions to highlight the growing scientific support for pain recovery treatments.

Designed for all practitioners working with the chronic pain population, this presentation translates the newest research into clinically relevant insights and practical implications for assessment, patient education, and the path to recovery.

This lecture is given by Yoni K. Ashar, PhD, Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Objectives of this free training include:

  • Describing recent research findings on Pain Reprocessing Therapy and related pain recovery treatments.
  • Identifying key clinical implications of the latest research for assessing and treating neuroplastic pain.
  • Applying research-informed principles from PRT to improve patient education and treatment planning for individuals with chronic pain.
