Caregiver Support Group

Giving Care to the Caregiver
: Six 75-minute group classes

Do you have a spouse, partner, parent, child, sibling, or close friend living with chronic pain or other chronic symptoms?

Join a 6-week support group providing a safe place to engage with other caregivers who know what you are going through. This group meets virtually on Thursday mornings from 10 – 11:15 AM Pacific Time on: October 22, October 29, November 5, November 12, November 19, and December 3 (skipping the week of Thanksgiving).

Being a caregiver can be an emotional roller coaster. This group serves as an outlet to process normal frustrations, anger, and sadness, and to find support. Along with support, each session offers educational components, including the science behind neuroplastic pain, how suppressed emotions contribute to pain, and why well-intended help can end up backfiring.

You will learn positive communication skills and tools to express your emotions in a healthy way, so that you can take care of yourself, too, especially when complex relationships, family dynamics, and health stressors are at play.

Hans Sieber, LPC, and Danielle Adams O’Malley, LCSW, are here to support you in topics including:
  • How to bring up the idea of neuroplastic pain and PRT to a loved one struggling with chronic symptoms.
  • How PRT can help even when pain is caused by physical damage or disease.
  • What to do when a loved one is in a depressed or anxious state.
  • How to take care of yourself as the caregiver.
  • How to find a balance between accommodating pain and encouraging change.
  • Navigating moments when a loved one’s frustration is directed at you.
  • How to ask about a loved one’s progress without upsetting them.
  • How to navigate isolation, compassion fatigue, resentment, and guilt.
  • And so much more!
Please note this is not individual therapy or group therapy. Although there will be space to process difficult feelings and seek guidance, the purpose of this workshop is mainly education and group support from others who “get it”.

Group members will also have the option to purchase individual consultations with one of our expert group leaders.
